Utstillingsperiode: 8. september – 3. desember
”Livredd og livsfarlig” forteller historier om barnesoldater fra Afghanistan, Burma, Colombia, Kambodsja, Kongo, Nepal, Nicaragua, Palestina, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Uganda og Zambia. Med denne utstillingen ønsker Nobels Fredssenter å sette søkelys på det som kalles verdens lengste gisseldrama – bruken av barn som soldater.

Utstillingen inneholder både fotografier av og film om barnesoldater samt tegninger og malerier laget av barn som selv har vært soldater. Barnas kunstverk er hardtslående symboler på traumene de bærer. De korte, gripende fortellingene som er knyttet til hvert enkelt bilder gir publikum et enda dypere innblikk i barnesoldatenes hverdag.
Unicef anslår at omkring 300.000 barnesoldater brukes hensynsløst i væpnede konflikter for å utkjempe de voksnes kriger. Blant de som settes inn i voldelige kamper finner vi barn helt ned i åtteårsalderen. Unge jenter bortføres og må gi seksuelle ytelser til eldre soldater og flere tvinges til å ta livet av egne familiemedlemmer som en prøvelse på deres lojalitet til hæren.
På Nobels Fredssenter opplever vi daglig barns sterke vilje til fred. Samtidig ser vi at denne gruppen utnyttes i kriger over store deler av verden. Med utstillingen Livredd og livsfarlig ønsker vi å bringe barnesoldatenes historie frem i dagen og rette søkelys mot det som også kalles verdens største gisseldrama. Ved hjelp av Redd Barnas og Flyktningehjelpens responsstasjoner mot slutten av utstillingen får publikum tips om hvordan deres engasjement kan brukes til å gjøre en innsats mot bruken av barnesoldater.
I utstillingsperioden viser vi i samarbeid med Film fra Sør den sterke dokumentarfilmen Invisible Children, om et møte mellom amerikanske ungdommer og tidligere barnesoldater i Uganda. Dette møtet og filmen resulterte i en oppvåkning og massebevegelse som fortsatt sprer seg og øker i intensitet verden over.

The Nobel Peace Center opened its doors on 11 June 2005. In our first year more than 100 000 people have visited us, and the response has been overwhelming – adults and children alike have been captivated and intrigued by the unique experience we offer.
A combination of rotating exhibits, distinctive digital solutions and engaging films and lectures all help to make a visit to the Peace Center a fascinating experience, with something to offer everyone.

8 Sep to 3 Dec TERRIFIED AND TERRIFYING – STORIES OF CHILD SOLDIERS
An exhibition with photographs and child soldier’s own words and illustrations.
In co-operation with PRIO, Children/Youth as Peace Builders, Save the Children
and Norwegian People’s Aid. The exhibition is supported by the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs and the Canadian Embassy.

Jews, Muslims and Christians all consider themselves children of Abraham. The
Iranian Magnum photographer Abbas has spent 30 years documenting man's search
for a God. His strong commitment, critical sense and fearless approach have made
him a central figure among international photographers.
1 Dec to 13 Apr JAMES NACHTWEY: EYE WITNESS. A photo exhibition with pictures by James Nachtwey. For the very first time in Norway, Nachtwey’s moving and dramatic pictures from areas like Afghanistan, the Balkans, Chechnia, DR Congo, Darfur, Iraq, Rwanda, South Africa and the US. The exhibition is supported by Hydro.

The Nobel Peace Center presents the Nobel Peace Prize Laureates and their work, and Alfred Nobel. Exhibits highlight real problems related to war, peace and conflict resolution. Changing and exciting displays, unique digital presentations as well as films and lectures, all help create this dynamic and magical venue.
Our permanent exhibitions include presentations of the
Nobel Peace Prize Laureates in the Nobel Field and the electronic Wall Papers.
Also enjoy the magic book about Alfred Nobel and our documentaries about the
laureates and the peace prize ceremonies in Oslo.
