"Yariv Openheimer" the Chairman of "Peace Now"
Safsaf - Oslo : The Israeli daily news paper "Maariv" mentioned on its Tuesday Oct.16th edition that "Yariv Openheimer" the Chairman of "Peace Now" movement performed his military reserve service recently in the occupied Palestinian territories of the West Bank, and that he has deprived Palestinians from moving freely across Israeli military check points.
Activists of the "Check Point Watch" movement accuse Openheimer and his soldiers of preventing a Palestinian family of 3 men and 7 children from crossing the check point Openheimer was commanding on. The family was on its way to visit relatives in a near by Palestinian village on the occasion of the "Al Fiter" Holiday celebrated by Moslems at the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Openheimer claims the taxi the Palestinian family took had no permit to cross the check point, and adds that he appreciates what the "Check Point Watch" activists are doing. Also he was quoted saying that when he is called for service in the west bank, he does his best to perform his tasks even if it contradicted his values and believes.
